Bordeaux 2020
A superb trilogy of vintages - 2018-2019-2020!
The 2020 vintage has clearly showed itself to be of interest to lovers of Bordeaux. The wines exude tension & elegance. They are concentrated, focused and refined. Tannins are high, but also so silky, so integrated.
The wines may well prove to be on par in quality with the two previous exceptional vintages, although different in style from either 2018 or 2019, with a very enticing freshness (probably the most repeated word across our tastings). The most successful wines of the vintage have succeeded in harnessing the power and opulence of the 2018 vintage with the structure and elegance of the 2019s.
Alcohol levels are modest in 2020, sometimes as much as a full degree percent less than in 2018, at least for most of the wines. The tannins are present, but very polished and ripe, making for a definite opulence (second most repeated word) in the mouthfeel.
In two words then, Opulent and Fresh. What's not to like?
As seasoned Bordeaux buyers will know, securing allocation from top Châteaux can be very difficult and this year has been no different, especially with production about 25% less than usual, with yields well below the average due to the little rainfall throughout the summer.
The following table summarises the châteaux we have offered, their scores with the critics, and the offer prices. We still have stock of many of these. If not, we should still be able to source them for you. If there is anything that catches your eye, please click on the blue chateau names, within the offer click on "Click here to place an order", and we will quickly reply to your enquiry, confirming availability.
